Have you ever forgotten for a moment why you pray? When I prayed for my friend Valerie, scheduled for surgery, I wondered, but isn't the Risen Lord with her in more powerful ways than I can possibly imagine already? Oh, maybe prayer is an active participation in the life of the Risen One. That is what we want: to be together as cooperative, imaginative members of the body of Christ--or stated another way, to be together as members of one another. So, I will give myself to praying for her.
