Spiritual Direction
For hundreds of years spiritual guides have been listening to others as they endeavor to walk with God. Jesus is our teacher. He shows us how to wake up to the Spirit of God moving in and through our lives.
The place to begin is where you are. Your relationship with yourself, with God, and with others known or unknown, may stir up curiosity, bewilderment, or even fear. So there are many reasons you may want to work with a spiritual guide. I have listed nine.
When you are curious and open you may --
sense God is wanting to speak with you
feel ready to take more responsibility for the joys and sorrows of your life
desire to become adept using the tools of peacemaking
When you feel confused or befuddled you may --
want to work on ways to become more grounded in your life
wonder how to unpack and treasure transcendent moments that you experience
seek understanding of your story within our cultural story
When you are in a fearful time you may --
realize that you need to make significant changes
want to find scripture to address to your pain
need to tell your story
How does a guide enhance your spiritual reflection?
Reflecting is not too hard. You are most likely already aware of what you value and how you make sense of your life. When you engage in spiritual reflection with a guide, your efforts to become more conscious are accelerated. With more clarity, you will move with greater freedom and ease feeling more comfortable in all of your relationships.
